SIGNS OF THE END TIMES: BIBLE VERSES & SIGNS EXPLAINED

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

Signs of the end times are important to know, especially if you follow the tenet of the bible scriptures.

So let’s take a look at the signs of the end time…

There are many people that have thought about signs of the end of the world. There are various theories from a number of different sources.

Some to do with calculations, and some just predictions. Here I will answer this questions by using the scriptures.

The Messiah’s (Christ’s) Answer To The End Times

When we read the scriptures, we see the disciples ask Yahusha (Jesus) what the signs of the end times and end of the world will be, and his second coming:

Matthew 24:3

Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

This is a question that is necessary to answer if we want to be grounded believers.

Here I will tackle this questions, using scriptures, without any bias and set theological perspective.

An Overview Of Why The Disciples Asked About The End Times

Before the disciples asked the questions concerning the end of the world signs. The disciples were talking with Yahusha (Jesus) about the temples destruction in Israel.

During their discussions Yahusha (Jesus) told them that the temple would be destroyed again.

Obviously, at the time that would have alarmed them, which prompted them to ask, when this would take place.

They also asked when Yahusha’s second coming would be and the end of the world.

The Messiah’s coming is a topic all by it’s self, so we will only be talking about the signs of the end outlined by the Messiah in bible scriptures.

I will go through the 5 end of the world signs that Yahusha outlines in Matthew 24

#1. Many Will Come In My Name

The first sign for the end are many coming in the name of the Messiah.

Contrary to popular belief that ”one”, anti christ that most people thinks will come in the end is not true.

The Messiah actually says “many” will come in his name…

Mathew 24:4-5

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

With further research we can see what is meant by the many coming in the the name of Christ.

Paul clears this up, by referring to the doctrine or teachings that another Christ would teach.

2 Corinthians 11:3-4

3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Clearly those that come in these false names are bringing different doctrines, different from the one that Christ fulfils and teaches.

Some of these other Christ’s can be as follows:

The Catholic Church, Church denominations, Islam (Mohammed calls Christ just a prophet and puts himself above him)

There are also many other faiths that speak of Christ with out acknowledging the Messiahs fundamental teachings, such as the dietary laws (Leviticus 21), Moral laws etc.

Keep in mind that these doctrines “shall deceive many”. This is seen with the huge followings that Catholism and Islam have.

#2. Wars, Earthquakes in divers places

Matthew 24:6-8

The Messiahs speaks of wars and rumors of wars, as a another sign of the end. Also famines and disease, such as COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Ebola, Swine flu, Influenza etc.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

It’s important to deal with Israel in regards to this first, although this prophecy also deals with today and present day believers.

Firstly, we know by reading history that Israel’s second temple was completely destroyed by the Romans in 70AD 70 years after the Messiah.

Which fulfils his prophecy.

There was intense persecution of the “true” believers in Christ, the Israelite’s and the Gentile convert (other nation) believers alike.

Matthew 24:15-22

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

In the above verses we see direct reference to the destruction of Israel’s Temples. The 1st Approx 700BC and 2nd temples, the 2nd was destroyed in 70AD. This fulfils prophecy in the book of Daniel 9.

This is what is referenced by the Messiah above in verse 15.

It also says the Most High had to shorten those days or there would be no more Israel (funny enough people try to claim there’s no Israel today).

Now we have looked at the “abomination of desolation” we can look at the current day climate.

We are told there would be earthquakes and pestilences and can see that these signs are in full effect.

Here’s a non-exhaustive list of some war events as follows:

  1. World war 1 (28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918) and 2 (1939 to 1945)

  2. Transatlanic slave trade

  3. Hurricane Katrina

  4. 9/11 twin towers attack

  5. Hurricane sandy

And there are many more events that can be listed…

Matthew 24:8-13

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

When we see the scriptures we see the beginning of the, believers being delivered up, such as the apostle Stephen Acts 7:54-60.

History tells us after 70AD Israelite’s (commonly called jews) were persecuted throughout the 1st century, which continues to this day.

So much so, that Christians, actually believe that we are not supposed to keep the Moral laws (Exodus 20) or the Dietary laws (Leviticus 11).

Interpreting the verse 12 that says “love of many shall wax cold”, is easy. In today’s world we are in a time where gadgets, commercialism and capitalism are all at the forefront, I’m sure we can all agree.

We should keep in mind that all this has to be endured by Israel and the true believer.

#3. The Scripture Preached to All Nations

This 3rd sign is extremely important, because when it’s complete the end will come.

Matthew 24:14

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The Messiahs says here that the “gospel of the kingdom shall be preached”?

This points out that the “true” Gospel has not been preached everywhere because if it had, the end would be here.

#4. Signs of Christ Actually Coming

Now we know all the false hoods that surround the second Christ as mentioned above, such as different, doctrines and teachings.

Matthew 24:27-31

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

We can see in the verses above what the Messiahs actual coming will be, in verses 29 and 30.

We see that when the Messiah comes a second time, it will be overt, not as he came the first time, which was through a worthy human vessel, Mary.

The Messiah coming is described as the “lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west”.

This is an elaborate and open coming, not a hidden slow announcement. We should also keep in mind what the Messiah says,

Matthew 24:36

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

So, no one knows when the Messiahs second coming will be, not even him.

I should also be pointed out that when the Messiah does comes, the world will be functioning as normal in ignorance.

This will be similar to when the flood came, even though Noah preached to the people 120 years before it hit.

Matthew 24:37-39

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Conclusion

I hope that you have a clearer understanding of the signs of the end times, from a biblical stand point.

I have broken it up into 4 parts for simplicity sake, but it is possible to break up the stages down even further.

Shalom! And share this with someone that needs it.
